Saturday | October 24 | 6:00-9:00 PM | The Oasis Backyard
Please join us for an evening of artistic exploration as we consider the role of compassion in our spiritual journeys toward God. In our study of Romans, we are reminded to "rejoice with those who rejoice," and to "mourn with those who mourn" in the pursuit of a deeper harmony with those whose experiences may differ from our own. How does the work of empathy and compassion unfold through the spaces of beauty, imagination, and art? And how might the arts shape us into more compassionate followers of Christ?
As we consider these questions together, we will move through a meditation, discussion, and creative writing exercise, followed by an artists' showcase for anyone who would like to share their work. Poetry and fiction, drama, music, dance, visual art, fashion, floral and culinary art are all welcome.
We will meet in the backyard of Oasis, socially distanced, and with masks. If you would like to contribute a dish for our table or share a creative piece during our showcase time, we would love to receive your offering. For questions please contact Mahlika Hopwood at firstname.lastname@example.org. Space is limited, so reserve your place soon!
